Festival Arte de Portas Abertas
There’s no doubt that the celebrated neighborhood of Santa Teresa can claim itself to be the artistic and creative soul of Old Rio. It’s been that way since the 1750’s when the barro’s first parlors and mansions began to frame the streets around the Convent that gave Santa Teresa its name. Today, many of those same mansions house dozens of artist studios and galleries, giving the centuries-old neighborhood and its winding cobblestone streets a bucolic air. Each year, The Association of Visual Artists of Santa Teresa hosts the Festival Arte de Portas Abertas, when you can have the opportunity to get up close to the artists and their creative works, and to visit various craft shops and galleries, too.
